Staff Accountant

Job Description

Our client, a reputable real estate and property management firm, is seeking a Staff Accountant to join their growing accounting team. This role will support accounting operations across both commercial and residential portfolios, assisting with general ledger maintenance, financial reporting, and monthly close activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post journal entries for assigned entities and properties.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts and ensure accuracy of financial data.
  • Support monthly and quarterly close processes, including accruals and account analysis.
  • Assist with bank reconciliations and cash management across multiple entities.
  • Review and code invoices, ensuring proper allocation to properties and departments.
  • Record tenant billings, rent payments, and other receivables in accordance with lease terms.
  • Assist in preparing financial statements, variance analyses, and supporting schedules.
  • Support the annual budget and audit preparation process.
  • Partner with property managers and senior accountants to ensure accounting accuracy across portfolios.
  • Maintain compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required).
  • 2-4 years of accounting experience, ideally within real estate or property management.
  • Understanding of GAAP and full-cycle accounting processes.
  • Experience with real estate accounting systems (e.g., Yardi, MRI, AppFolio, RealPage) strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, formulas).
